Woburn Safari Park 


Lions, tigers and bears – you will find your favourite animals at Woburn Safari Park! The Park is an award winning attraction which makes a valuable contribution to conservation. Most of all, it is a place where families can enjoy being together and seeing animals in a beautiful environment.

Stockgrove Country Park 


Comprising of an 80 acre park, Stockgrove Country Park has an interesting history dating back to medieval times. Situated just outside the town at Heath and Reach, it has a lake, woodland trails and picnic area, plus many facilities such as access for less-abled people, an information centre run by the Greensand Trust who manage the park, a snack bar, and public toilets. The Greensand Trust also organise a “wildlife watch” club for younger children.

For those keen to take on a challenge, Bedfordshire’s long-distance walk “The Greensand Ridge Walk” starts in the town centre and passes through Stockgrove on its way to Gamlingay 40 miles to the east. (www.greensandridgewalk.co.uk).

Why not take jump on the new Dash Direct bus service to get to this location. Simply take this service to the High Street and then take the number 10, 10A or 150 services to Stockgrove Park.

Tring Zoological Museum


Originally the private collection of 2nd Baron Rothschild this interesting museum is now part of The Natural History Museum, containing thousands of preserved specimens of animals in a unique Victorian setting, making it a fun and educational day out for all the family.

Mead Open Farm


Located on Stanbridge Road, Great Billington, here you can meet, feed and stroke cows, horses, goats, rabbits, sheep and guinea pigs, and even bottle feed lambs and try hand milking a cow.

As well as the animals there is a big choice of activities including go-karts, a 9-hole crazy golf course, and an adventure playground. A big highlight for younger visitors is Shaggy’s Playworld. Named after the Farm Mascot, this includes an indoor play centre with huge slides, climbing areas, ball ponds and net climbs.

Mead Open Farm also serves both hot meals and snacks, and has picnic areas if you prefer to take your own lunch. There is a programme of special events throughout the year including Easter egg hunts, Spook-tacular Halloween fun, Santa Claus visits at Christmas, as well as a Reptile Roadshow during school holidays and a Maize Maze in the summer.

Situated just 1.5 miles away from you, this is within easy walking or cycling distance via Billington Village. Alternatively, you can take the number 73, 162 or 164 buses from Billington Road to Billington Village followed by a short stroll to the farm.
