Dash Direct Bus Service

To help you explore Leighton Buzzard and the surrounding area without the need for using your car, we have provided a high quality, high frequency bus service “Dash Direct” for you to access the range of shops and services within Leighton Buzzard town centre and the railway station, allowing you to travel throughout the national rail network.

Your very own Dash Direct Service!

This service provides a reliable, comfortable, safe and friendly service into the town centre. Bus stops are equipped with real-time passenger information, so you always know when the next bus is on its way. The bus is also fitted with WiFi free for passengers and you can even charge your phone whilst on the go.

Why worry about whether there will be a parking space in the town
or at the station Why not just “Take the Bus and lose the fuss!”

The Dash Direct (D1) service was launched on Tuesday 20th April 2010, and provides a 30 minute frequency from 06:00 to 20:25, Monday to Friday and 08:32to 18:02 on Saturdays around the town.
Additional stops have been installed along the route, making it easier for you, and existing residents, to catch the Dash Direct service. These are positioned at the following locations:

  • Johnson Drive (near Draper Way – on Sandhills development)
  • Chartmoor Road (near Eden Way)
  • Chartmoor Road (northwest end)
  • Grovebury Road (near Learning Warehouse)
  • Lake Street (The Sun Inn for Morrisons)
  • Lake Street (southbound near Library)
  • Billington Road (near The Maltings)
  • Billington Road (near Narrowgauge Railway)

If you are a commuter to the station, the Dash Direct service will take just 12 minutes and are timed to get you there for the commuter train to London. If you also currently drive and park at the station, you can save yourself a fortune by using the new Dash Direct service! A day return ticket will cost you £3.20 compared to £8.40 to park at the station, plus you have the additional cost of petrol and the wear and tear on your car to consider!

As you can see we have also introduced a new fare structure with the ability to purchase a 10 trip ticket for £13.00 allowing you to use the ticket over a couple of weeks if you don’t use service every day!! On Saturdays we have also introduced our 4some Saturday Saver, which will cost you just £5.00 for four people!

Great news for children

As a result of suggestions from several customers, child fares were introduced on the Dash Direct (D1) service from the 9th January 2011. The fares apply to all children aged between 5 and 15 years inclusive (under 5’s travel free, those aged 16 and over will pay the adult fare).

The fares are as follows:

Sandhills – High Street – £1.00 single

Sandhills – Rail Station – £1.10 single

Day ticket – £2.00

Weekly ticket – £8.50

4 Weekly ticket – £30.00
